Analyzing Genre in Film
Bubble diagram
Welcome back my little Alakazam, today our focus is all about genre. A genre is a class or category of artistic
endeavor having a particular form, content, technique, or the like. The genre
of a movie is very important to both audiences and producers because some
content within a specific genre might contradict with person's personal
ideology or value. Understanding the genre helps the producers create a film
where he or she can receive a balanced perspective from the audience, which
helps avoid conflict. The four most common genres known by audiences are
Action, romance, comedy, and drama. All of these genres contain something that
is called a subgenre. Sub-genre is considered a smaller genre within a
large genre these subgenres help add additional themes to the main genre, like
action-adventure, fantasy adventure, historical, science fiction, survival
adventure you name it, it's there. If a person were to favor fantasy over
action they have the option for fantasy adventure over action
adventure. One of the film genres I lovvvvvvvve to watch is adventure I
fell in love with that genre ever since I was really young starting with Dora
to Barbie to Sophia to Pokémon all the way to Jumanji, I believe that the best
childhood transition I might have I love the mystery the challenge. The
adventure genre keeps the audience engaged in the character's adventure to the
point where you start to predict or two feel like you want to jump inside the
TV and join them.
the purpose of this assignment is to look at the mise
en scene elements within the genre of films. The significance of iconography
and narrative themes, and their connection to narrative themes.
l used a bubble diagram to show what kind of mise en
scene element that identify the genre of a movie is an adventurous movie. A
bubble diagram is a visual tool that allows me to connect my thought process,
it helps me demonstrate the foundation and some step process that led to the
end result.
Narrative themes for this type of genre is exploration and survival where one tries to overcome nature, enemies. It helps direct the story while enhancing the plot.

Analyzing Mise en scene
He's All That
Greeting my little Alakazam for this lesson, we learn about mise en scene and the
easiest and most understood way to understand this term is that it is what is
being shown in a frame. For instance, when you take a picture everything you
can see in the small square or rectangle is mise en scene that you can't they
are not. So, for this assignment my team and I picked one of our favorite
movies well at least one that we both have watched and enjoyed, we were
assigned to examine the first 10 minutes of the film or what you might know as a
preview. The movie we picked was " He's All That," the genre of the
movie is teen romantic comedy between two characters. Addison Rae who plays
Padgett Sawyer and Tanner Buchanan who plays Cameron Kweller.
In the movie opening, Padgett was showcased as a young
media influencer teenager. In a room all bring and pink with a lot of make-up
skin care products on her desk. The first thing she did when she got up was get
ready and greet her fans. After some time when she exits her room, her house
compared to her room was very different instead it was small and blue with less
positive energy. Just like that, she was greeted by her tired mother who seemed
to have late-night work. They share their beautiful moment as she leaves to
meet her friend at her usual pick-up spot. However, Padgett lied and said she
was in the elevator when she was running to meet them in front of a tall
building. Pick her up as they were headed to Padgett's boyfriend's recording
place. He was another famous influencer but a singer while Padget did makeup
and skin care.
Just like that the camera shift to Cameron who seem to
be more nonchalant, critical and less positive than Padgett. Cameron has a
younger sister that goes to the same high school. Then scene change to the
school "Cali High" they show lot of stereotypes of high schooler the
friend groups the famous kids and loners. And there we meet what seem to be
Cameron close friend. Cameron also seems to enjoy embarrassing her sister.
Once again, the scene changes to Padgett's point of
view when she gets to where her boyfriend is filming his music. She brought his
favorite treats for him, and she wanted to share them with her social media, so
she asked her friend to record her live on her phone. However, when she opens
the door to the production van and finds him cheating on her. That is when
things start spicing up because now Padgett is all emotional and mad and sad,
she starts throwing the desert at him as she starts tearing up. But she forgot
an important detail she was still live and being recorded and just like BOOM
black screen.

Critical Reflection
While creating these tables, I got to learn some terms
and I was able to find examples from a movie. Together this activity helped me
analyze the movie better. Since I already watched this movie already, I could
tell that the thing I noticed the second time during this analysis was much
bigger than what I first saw. For example, I just saw the camera shifting I
didn't know it was purposely comparing Cameron to Padgett if I couldn't get
that you better believe I didn't know the name for it either.
One media application i use the most is word I believe because of my years' experience i can say that I'm close to an expert at this point. For this activity I had watch the film opening multiple time to capture the close detail. I also find some information using google.
