Introduction to the element of mise-en-scene for the film
The objective of today's lesson was to learn about
mise en scene and what is its importance to media production. I learned that
mise en scene is anything that is put into a frame to create a scene. I also
learned that mise en scene consists of seven elements such as lighting, acting,
props, makeup, setting, composition, and color. All of these are things that
can be seen in a frame. These elements help settle the genre or the subgenre of
a movie. Based on the element of the mise en scene it helps the audience
understand the message the producer is trying to relay. Without the elements of
the mise en scene, a producer may face a lot of difficulties organizing a scene
or a movie. which is why I believe that semiotics is also linked hand in hand
with mise en scene for instance, if a producer were to use a lot of low
lighting setting in a horror movie the producer most likely connotate the idea
that low lighting mean fear/emptiness or hopeless while adding suspense to the
scene.
